THE RULES OF THE COMPETITION

1. Prepare any single movement of any major work for all acoustic instruments and voice for which orchestral parts are available. Works originally written for solo, and piano are not acceptable. You may email the competition manager if you are unsure of the availability of parts.

2.  Each participant is required to submit a video on YouTube, VIMEO, or other method on the application form in order to qualify for the first round. The concerto of your choosing cannot be more than 10 minutes long. Accompanists are allowed.

3. If you are invited to advance to the in-person portion of the competition, you are required to provide the judges with 2 copies of the score or a piano reduction of your musical selection at the audition. (1 electronic file sent to stzeng@lowellphilharmonic.org & 1 printed copy that you’ll bring to the audition.)

  • In-person in front of a judges panel on Saturday February 8, 2025 between 9am and 12pm.

  • The music does not have to be memorized, but page turns must be worked out so they do not interfere. You may invite an accompanist if you so choose.
